The doctor who wields the needle

I have a date with a long spinal needle in a few weeks. Between my schedule and NeedleDoc's schedule, I can't have my epidural injection until July 2. TheHusband will come and get to watch. I suspect that he'll be much more interested in what is on the screen (the procedure is done under fluoroscopy) than in holding my hand. I am not looking forward to it, but at least I'll be all drugged up. :-) And the doc has done about 40,000 of these things.

Stupid back.

It hurts me to think about this. Ouch! Again, I wished I could be there to hold your hand, then Larry could concentrate on the screen. ;-)

I wish you could be here too. But not for this. For a beach vacation with no kids or husbands (okay, maybe the husbands), where we get to eat yummy food and have drinks with umbrellas...

Skimming the title, I thought this was going to be a post about Doctor Who; and now I wish it was--only because I wish you were watching, say, "The Pirate Planet" (Tom Baker as The Doctor, script by Douglas Adams) instead of hurting. Or really doing anything other than hurting. I hope you feel better soon, and I hope the procedure goes well and smoothly and you're okay.

I don't know what exactly to say, except my hopes are with you through this.

I have to say that my goals for the outcome of this procedure are well-defined and (hopefully) achievable. I just want to be able to stand up from a chair like a 40-something year-old, not a 99 year-old. See, I'm easy. :-)

Thanks for the good wishes.

The doc expressed sheer shock that it has taken me so long to drag my sorry ass in for treatment. I smiled and said "Doctors are bad patients. You know that." He rolled his eyes.

I'm sorry, I just had to laugh when I read that.

I hope everything goes well for you when the procedure is done, and that soon afterwords that are drinks with umbrellas.

Y'know, I heard something a couple weeks ago that they did a study and discovered that poking someone with toothpicks was the same as using acupuncture needles as far as relieving discomfort.

You think maybe the doc can use a giant toothpick?
